If this is your first time connecting your iPhone to the UNAVI CarPlay, follow these steps to ensure a successful connection:
1. After starting your car, connect your iPhone to the CarPlay system's USB cable. Inquire with your installer on the location of this USB cable. Usually, the USB cable will be located inside the armrest compartment, inside the glove box compartment, or below the glove compartment. Ensure you are using the original Apple Lightning Cable.
2. After connecting your phone, you will see a few things happen. Your iPhone will begin charging and the screen will change to the UNAVI main menu.
After a few moments, a small white box with the Apple CarPlay icon will appear on the top left hand corner and the Apple CarPlay icon will be displayed on your iPhone.
3. Unlock your iPhone. There will be two pop-up questions that will appear: The first question is a privacy question on whether you want to allow CarPlay use while your iPhone is locked. Select Allow or Not Now, depending on your preference.
Then the second pop-up question will appear. Here is where you will choose whether you want to connect wired (via the USB cable) or wireless.
If you select Enable Wireless CarPlay, you will enable wireless CarPlay so you don't have to connect with the USB cable. Leave your iPhone connected for about 3 to 4 minutes to allow the wireless configuration to finish setting up. After that, disconnect your iPhone from the USB cable. You will return to the UNAVI main menu. In a few moments, the white box with the Apple CarPlay icon will appear and then the Apple CarPlay will load on the screen. Your wireless CarPlay connection is succesfully set up at this point.
If you select Use USB Only, you will need to connect your iPhone with the Apple Lightning cable to access Apple CarPlay. UNAVI recommends using the wired connection method for the most stable connection to Apple CarPlay.
